Our Story
My name is Deirdre Noone and I am an Art & Design graduate who has spent the last 15 years working for companies such as Top Shop, H&M, and Brown Thomas creating their seasonal window displays and interior visuals.
My love of working on interiors and home improvement has led me to focus full time on Interior design and consultancy work, with Yellow Gate Design being born.
The purchase of our own home, a 200-year-old cottage on the edge of Galway city, allowed me to be creative and gave me the hands-on experience in renovation and extension work. The house has been featured in several Irish and UK magazines, as well as coming runner up in season five of RTE’s Home of the Year.
On the show Hugh Wallace described my style as “Rustic Sophistication”, which I guess covers my love of mixing old and new, utilising natural materials and colour as best I can.
My goal with Yellow Gate Design is to help people make the small changes they need to help them fall in love with their home again, but also guide clients through the process no matter what the space is to be used for.
I really get such satisfaction in these small transformations. This doesn’t need to be a huge investment but sometimes all you need is another pair of eyes and some hints and tips on how to finish what you started.
I feel that Interior design should be part of finishing every home, the same way an Architect would be involved in any new build. There are certain basic elements that need to be addressed to make the most of the space, like room layout and flow, colour options and textured finishes, all which help create a feeling and make you enjoy the room so much more.
A sample of the services I offer range from a simple colour consultation to full multi room schemes with clear direction on whats needed, up to full hands- on weekend makeovers.
If you think you could benefit from my services, then I would love to hear from you.
